TRAVEL GUIDE

Flamenco Beach, Culebra

The island is a short 30 minute flight from San Juan, and is home to the best beaches in all of Puerto Rico.

We absolutely loved our time here, spending most of it in the water, exploring the tanks on the beach, as well as driving around the island with the top off of the Wrangler.

First things first, rent a jeep from Jerry’s Jeep Rental (roughly $80 per day). The public transportation on the island is minimal, and although you can also rent a golf cart for half the price, the convenience of having your own car is worth every penny.

Flamenco Beach Tanks

The US Navy left these tanks behind in the 70s. They used Flamenco Beach as a target practice site, even though the island had roughly 400 residents at the time. Fortunately after years of protesting from the residents, the Navy finally ceased operations, but left a few of these tanks behind. Now they make for unique photo opportunities.
